Dabangg

So despite knowing that this is a Salman Khan flick, we somehow still went on to see this movie because of a few people recommending it quite highly.

And the movie is good. Once it hits you that the over the top theme of the movie is intentional you settle down and start to appreciate the movie. Everything is over the top right from the Matrix and Jackie Chan type of stunts right in the first 5 minutes to the extravagant Salman dance moves. I haven't seen anyone dance like that since probably Amitabh ;-)

The music is superb. Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, a Rahat Fateh Ali Khan song is my new favorite these days. Other songs are very good.

Acting is good, Salman fits and plays the Dabangg character right till the final extra 'g'.

The director is Abhinav Kashyap, brother of Anurag Kashyap (Dev D, Black Friday). But Abhinav, I found out from Wiki, wrote the dialogues for Manorama Six Feet Under. It shows in this movie too the dark undertone about corruption and life in rural India. But the deliberate "fizz" of this movie is what ultimately stands out. See it like that and the movie is the most enjoyable ;-)
