Nike is showing this awesome cricket ad these days. World cup fever I guess. Anyway it's quite brilliant and captivating...The pause near the end when the guy is just about to bowl the last ball is just perfect...

What I love is the josh with which the guy comes to bowl the last ball...the traffic has started...the world doesn't have a choice and reluctantly decides to move on with their mundane activities..but this passionate cricketer doesn't care and just wants the game to move on! His enthusiasm is so infectious that the others just pick up their bats and get into position as if to say 'we too don't care about the world. Lets just play all day!'
The other part I liked in the ad was the way the 'pioneer' and his partner scream out for the ball with a typical galli waala line 'Oye balcony...ball de na' and then the look of scare on their faces when they see the shirtless 'body builder' charge towards them. The look changes to glee when they realize that the guy just wants to be a part of the game and not disrupt it...the more the merrier! No one seems to know each other and still manage to have such a ball! This can happen only in a sport and I really felt the spirit of the game in this ad.
Surprised at the looooong comment for a mere ad...?Its not just the cricket mania...watching someone play anything with passion makes me feel a part of the game...I feel the thrill of a good stroke and the disgust of bad shot...almost as if I were playing!
The details in this ad are amazing. Check out how the first guy measures his run up before bowling. Then notice the second batsmen getting behind the first guy just in case the first one misses the ball. That’s such a key feature of gully cricket!
And then the comment 'kya kar raha hai yaar'...
Totally captures the spirit of cricket...
